Inago Fragrant Glutinous Rice Seed Preservation Project
Chubb Life Taiwan’s Inago Fragrant Glutinous Rice Seed Preservation Project is focused on preserving seed sources and maintaining ecological diversity. Beginning in 2021, we collaborated with local farmers from the Alang Pulan (name of the tribe) and the Taichung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Ministry of Agriculture, to support the continued survival of Inago fragrant glutinous rice through annual contract farming, providing the tribe with an important source of income. Additionally, through school and community engagement, we have linked agricultural products to the tribe’s culture, passing down the significance of Inago fragrant glutinous rice and preserving its role as a traditional cultural icon.The project aligns with three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 15 – Protect terrestrial ecosystems, SDG 2 – End hunger, and SDG 4 – Inclusive and equitable quality education.
