Taiwan Corporate Human Rights Award
Background
Global corporate human rights governance trends are evolving rapidly. Regulations such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), the EU Forced Labour Regulation (EUFLR), and U.S. human rights import regulations are significantly impacting global supply chains. As international supply chain management standards like RBA and EcoVadis become increasingly stringent, it is imperative for Taiwanese enterprises to connect with international standards and build Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) capabilities. This award is established to guide enterprises from policy declarations toward institutional governance and evidence of effectiveness, aiming to create a flagship award aligned with international benchmarks.
To encourage the domestic industry to fulfill corporate social responsibility and advance towards sustainable development, the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) has organized the "TCSA Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards" for 19 consecutive years, receiving enthusiastic responses from enterprises and all sectors of society. The cumulative total turnover of the 1,075 participating enterprises across previous years reached 152% of Taiwan's 2024 GDP. This highlights that through the joint efforts of the government, civil society, industry, and academia—along with the global emphasis on SDGs, Social Responsibility (S), and HRDD—promoting decent work and human rights protection in value chains has become a mainstream trend in corporate management.
Given that human rights practice has become a core indicator for Social (S) and Governance (G), this inaugural "Taiwan Human Rights Practice Development Leadership Award" is held to further advocate for the integration of human rights into corporate strategies. It recognizes enterprises and leaders with outstanding performance in HRDD, protection of vulnerable groups, and supply chain management. Combined with the "Taiwan Human Rights Practice Development Forum," the award ceremony will serve as a flagship platform for industry participation, experience sharing, and cross-sector exchange, inspiring more enterprises to commit to the sustainable vision of decent work, social inclusion, and value co-creation.
