2024 TCSA
2024 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards
Background
The Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) aims to encourage Taiwan’s companies to take a social responsibility moving forward to more developments in corporate sustainability. In the past sixteen years, TAISE undertook the evaluations of the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA), organized Corporate Sustainability Training Workshops, and provided national corporates the essential information about corporate sustainability performance and reporting. Overall applications for TCSA since 2008 were 581 organizations. These organizations’ current revenue reached 36.13 trillion Taiwan dollars (US$ 1.18 trillion). Their participation in the TCSA competition showed that government, industry, academia, and society have used the principles of green finance and ESG investing in promoting corporate sustainability and corporate management.
The government has to account for its role in Taiwan’s corporate sustainability development. The Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) has focused on the practices of corporate governance, has prioritized corporate social responsibility, and has implemented in the industrial ecosystem. The FSC requires certain TWSE-listed companies to issue a corporate social responsibility report, and in particular, listed companies with paid-in capital of TWD 2 billion or less than TWD 5 billion should publish the report. In 2020, the FSC went in with the regulatory authority of the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation to announce Corporate Governance 3.0—Sustainable Development Roadmap. Therefore, through the government’s effort and support, companies have learned corporate social sustainability and have internalized it in their organizational culture.
In 2023, the TAISE established the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards Executive Committee to promote the TCSA. The TCSA was awarded in four categories which include the Sustainable Comprehensive Performance Award, the Sustainable Individual Performance Award, the Corporate Sustainability Reports Award, and the Outstanding Sustainability Youth Award. Since 2018, TAISE has organized the Global Corporate Sustainability Forum every year to recognize the excellence in corporate sustainability practices and share the latest corporate sustainability developments in Taiwan with the international community.
