TAIPEI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

Proton therapy is a type of radiation treatment that uses protons to target cancer cells with high precision while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Taipei Medical University Hospital recognized the potential of proton therapy early on, initiating its assessment in November 2012. The hospital identified the proton therapy machine as an essential tool for precise cancer radiation treatment, expected to lead the forefront of cancer therapy. Equipped with state-of-the-art superconducting proton therapy technology, the center anticipates accommodating approximately 300 proton therapy patients annually. Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria have gained significance across numerous sectors, including healthcare. In oncological care, integrating ESG principles can lead to sustainable and ethical practices that enhance patient outcomes, promote social responsibility, and ensure governance transparency. The integration of ESG criteria into proton radiotherapy, cancer treatment, and overall cancer patient care promotes sustainable practices, equitable patient access, and robust governance structures.
