EVA Air Sets a New Benchmark on Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) with Unrivaled Environmental, Social, and Governance Practices

EVA Air has reached a significant milestone in its sustainability efforts by earning a place on the prestigious DJSI Emerging Markets Indices. The airline demonstrated outstanding leadership in sustainable practices, achieving the highest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) score in the global aviation sector during the 2024 S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment.

As a globally recognized standard for responsible investment, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices evaluate companies based on their performance across environmental, social, and governance criteria. This year, over 13,000 companies spanning 62 industries participated in the rigorous assessment. Out of the 61 airlines evaluated, EVA Air emerged as the top performer, praised for its robust and effective ESG initiatives.

EVA Air’s inclusion in the DJSI Emerging Markets Indices highlights its excellence in corporate sustainability governance. The airline distinguished itself in both environmental and social domains, earning top rankings in areas such as Transparency & Reporting, Risk & Crisis Management, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Policy & Management, Energy Efficiency, Packaging, Climate Strategy, Transportation Safety, Customer Relations, and Data Privacy Protection.

Showcasing its dedication to decarbonization, EVA Air has proactively integrated Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) into its operations. In August 2023, the airline successfully operated a passenger flight from Tokyo Haneda (HND) to Taipei Songshan (TSA) using SAF blended at 40%. Most recently, on December 16, 2024, EVA Air utilized a 30% SAF blend for a flight from Incheon (ICN) to Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), cutting carbon emissions by approximately 14,000 kilograms. These efforts underscore EVA Air’s proactive approach to environmental stewardship through tangible actions.

The airline’s steadfast dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles has earned it significant accolades. In 2024, EVA Air was recognized at the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA), receiving the Top 10 Sustainability Exemplary Companies Award, the Platinum Award for Sustainability Reporting in the Transportation Industry, and four individual performance honors. EVA Air also earned recognition with a Bronze Class award for Sustainability Reporting at the 7th Global Corporate Sustainability Awards (GCSA).
