Voices in Action: Cultural Initiatives with Immigrant Women in Yunlin
The National Formosa University (NFU) USR HUB Project strategically addresses the systemic social alienation and rigid gender roles confronting over 10,000 female new immigrants in Yunlin. By re- engineering the perception of these residents from "alien" to "home", the initiative empowers them to transcend domestic confines and emerge as active community leaders. At the heart of this transformation is the "New-New Cluster", a pioneering model for sustainable community growth and cultural capital development. This framework leverages the university as a direct platform for multicultural exchange, converting diverse migrant life experiences into valuable social and economic assets. In 2025, the project pivoted from narrative sharing to comprehensive business integration, institutionalising the "Yunlin Xinghao" (Yunlin New Women) network to ensure cultural fusion drives both social inclusion and entrepreneurial innovation. This approach ensures that new immigrants are not merely passive recipients of aid but the primary architects of a cohesive, multicultural society, generating sustainable momentum for regional resilience.
