Scaling Land Conservation for Shared Nature
CPC Corporation integrates biodiversity conservation into its operations under the principle of “coexistence with nature.” Through site-based management, scientific research, habitat restoration, third-party certification, sustainable finance and stakeholder engagement, CPC has established a systematic conservation framework extending from marine to terrestrial environments. Starting from algal reef and coastal conservation at Guantang, CPC introduced third- party oversight and implemented long-term monitoring, habitat management and information disclosure to address stakeholder concerns. This approach has been expanded to key sites, including the Taoyuan Refinery, Shimen Oil Supply Service Center, Yongan LNG Terminal and Shen’ao Port, promoting ecological surveys, habitat improvement, protected species monitoring and OECMs certification, demonstrating that industrial sites can serve as conservation nodes beyond protected areas. CPC further integrates financial mechanisms, including a biodiversity MOU, sustainability-linked loans and a conservation trust fund, transforming conservation into a long-term governance system.
