Fire Bureau of Taichung City Government

Renewing Old Homes, Sustaining Safe Living
The Taichung City Fire Bureau is dedicated to realizing the vision of a sustainable city.Pioneering among the six special municipalities,it launched the"Electrical Facilities Renewal Project for High- Risk Groups."This project precisely targets isolated elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and low-income households, providing subsidies for improving the electricity usage environment in high-risk residential properties with a building age of 30 years or older.By linking the resources of the Bureau of Social Affairs and the Bureau of Urban Development, a cross-agency disaster prevention safety net has been successfully established to eradicate electrical fire hazards at their source.Since its launch, the project has achieved remarkable results, with the subsidy capacity growing year by year, expanding from 39 households in 2023 to 200 households in 2025,and is projected to reach 212 households in 2026,demonstrating outstanding policy execution and social care.Coupled with the popularization of residential smoke alarms, the total number of building fires in Taichung City has dropped significantly from 997 cases eight years ago to 295 cases in 2025.
