From Inclusion to Co-Creation: Building a DEI Ecosystem for People with Disabilities in Taoyuan
Guided by the principle of “From Care to Co-Creation,” this project builds a DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) ecosystem for special needs communities by connecting government, businesses, nonprofits, social enterprises, and universities. Through inclusive governance, digital and impact management, and the inclusive economy, the project empowers special needs communities to become active contributors to society. As Taiwan’s first local initiative adopting the Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Benchmarks (GDEIB), the project strengthens organizational DEI capacity through training, cross-sector engagement, Social Return on Investment (SROI) assessment, and digital tools such as Salesforce for Nonprofit. The project also established the “People and Planet First Marketplace” in partnership with the Far EasTone friDay Shopping platform, supporting social enterprises and nonprofit organizations in entering mainstream e- commerce channels. By transforming public support into consumer participation and shared value creation, the project promotes an inclusive economy that integrates social impact with market mechanisms.
