Dignity in Care: In-Bed Bathing for Persons with Disabilities
GSWF developed the “In-Bed Bathing” technique, a stay-in-bed, zero-transfer model enabling individuals with disabilities to bathe safely in bed. It addresses care challenges caused by limited space, manpower shortages, and resource constraints while safeguarding health and dignity. Using low-cost, accessible equipment, the model adapts to aging homes and confined spaces. Combined with nursing visits and health education, it turns hygiene care into a preventive health measure. From 2023 to 2025, the program delivered 181,694 service instances across Taiwan and offshore islands, supported by 816 volunteers. Caregiver satisfaction exceeded 99%. With an average cost of NT$790 per service, it generated about NT$139 million in social value over three years and eased long-term care burdens. Through standardized SOPs and knowledge sharing, families can learn and replicate the model, lowering technical barriers and enabling care autonomy. Integrating environmental sustainability, social inclusion, dignity-centered care, and transparent governance, the project demonstrates strong ESG value and a replicable home-care model.
