Social Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government

Sustainable Aging, Volunteers Together Creating Impact
    I. Project Background: The City’s vision is to build a “Happy and Livable City,” enhancing social connections among older adults, and promoting active aging toward an age-friendly society. II. Implementation Strategy: Enhancing older adults’ health, independence, and social connections, and building an age-friendly, safe environment—based on their functions and local needs. (1) Strategy 1: Establish the Taichung City Government Promotion Plan to encourage older adults to participate in volunteer services, expanding their involvement in diverse services. (2) Strategy 2: Provide subsidies to private organizations for senior volunteer insurance and diverse service programs. (3) Strategy 3: Promote senior volunteer programs through interagency cooperation, conduct program evaluations, and support service plans. III. Implementation Results: As of the end of 2025, the City had 143,623 volunteers, including 53,964 senior volunteers (37.6%). Based on an estimate of two service hours per person per month, senior volunteers in 2025 are projected to generate NT$246,075,840 in social value. These efforts support SDG 3, SDG 4, SDG 5 and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals.
