e-Inpatient Transformation for Sustainability, Innovating Inpatient Services, Sustaining Tomorrow
Facing critical bed shortages and nursing constraints, Shuang Ho Hospital launched “e-Inpatient Transformation,” a full-process smart hospitalization system with seven modules: app-based e-consent, severity-based bed triage, self check-in kiosks, real-time visualized bed dashboard, auto bed-cleaning tasks, bedside payments, and cross-unit system integration. This patient-centered model aligns with SDG 9 (Industry Innovation) and SDG 3 (Health & Well-being), improving care equity and flow. Outcomes include: 40,000+ sheets saved, 8,976 hours less patient wait time, and staffing cost reduction of ~USD 20,000/year. Admission before 3 PM rose from 83% to 95%, easing night shift burden. The system’s ESG-aligned, modular design enables rapid replication across hospitals, with successful deployment in two TMU-affiliated hospitals and sharing with 12 countries. This project reshapes inpatient care into a smart, low-carbon, inclusive, and scalable green healthcare model.
