Let’s Spark the Future of Education: Igniting Science Education Seeds in Remote Areas
Since 2016, TCI has supported education and health in Pingtung’s rural communities through diverse, integrated initiatives. In science education, TCI partnered with Scientific American for salons and campus lectures, and with Yung Chiang Education Foundation to host the Taichung Science Camp and Dream Career Exploration Camp, engaging 1,299 students in hands-on science experiences. Collaborations with the National Museum of Natural Science brought fossil exhibitions like From Ocean to Land and On the Oceanic Edge to over 2,220 student visitors in Pingtung.
Support programs include the Xuhai Reading Scholarship, lunch and milk subsidies for Wangjia Elementary School, and sponsorship of pole vaulters Cheng Chi HUANG and Chih Cheng LIN under the “Horizon Ascent” initiative. The Rural School Agriculture Education Initiative increased student numbers by 68% at Silin and Chau Nan elementary schools. TCI’s Sustainability MA Program, involving 42 departments across 27 universities, helps young talent prepare for ESG careers. Elderly wellness seminars were also held to improve health literacy in rural areas.
