Empowering visual friendly digital reading in Yunlin - 2024 "eRead for the Future" eReader library.
Since 2017, E Ink Holdings Inc. has launched the "eRead for the Future" eReader Mobile Library Project to promote eye-friendly digital reading and improve reading literacy in remote elementary schools across Taiwan. The project expands to a new county each year, leveraging E Ink’s core ePaper technology and collaborating with ecosystem partners to donate eReaders and e-books. Together, these partners contribute their expertise, products, and technical resources to build sustainable digital libraries for the recipient elementary schools.
To date, digital libraries have been established in eight counties in Taiwan, including Nantou, Changhua, Chiayi, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Penghu, Keelung, and most recently, Yunlin—each helping to close the reading gap through diverse, portable, and eye-friendly reading solutions.
In addition to Taiwan, the project has also expanded globally to communities where E Ink operates. By assessing local educational needs, the mobile library initiative has been implemented in Yangzhou (China), Seoul (Korea), and Boston (USA), advancing inclusive, low-carbon digital reading around the world.
