Cross-Border Waters: TKU and ECC’s Collaborative Efforts for Sustainable Water ResourceSince 2019, Tamkang University has long term partnered with ECC School in Cambodia to spearhead the ‘Cross-Border Waters’ initiative, focusing on sustainable water management and education. This program addresses critical water quality and conservation issues in Siem Reap, where water scarcity and contamination are prevalent. By integrating educational outreach and practical interventions, the initiative promotes sustainable water use practices among local communities and schools. The approach includes workshops on water purification techniques, the implementation of sustainable irrigation systems, and educational programs that incorporate water conservation into the school curriculum. Through this partnership, Tamkang University and ECC School are not only improving access to clean water but also fostering a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship among students and community members. In 2023, the initiative successfully expanded its model from PO Village in Siem Reap to JA Village in Mondulkiri and further into eastern Thailand, gradually shaping a broader influence across Southeast Asia and creating a replicable model contributing to global sustainability goals.
