No fear in life, no distance to rescue - Integrated healthcare network for critically ill childrenThe Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou, provides in-patient and hospital transfer services for children and newborns with critical illnesses and complex diseases in northern Taiwan. Pediatric diseases have widely varying characteristics and require different levels of medical care. Studies conducted in Taiwan and overseas have demonstrated the benefit of timely intensive treatment for critically ill children and those with complex diseases; moreover, it helps medical staff accumulate sufficient experience to improve the quality and safety of medical care. Therefore, the goal of our hospital is to integrate regional healthcare resources, build a comprehensive referral network, and improve medical care for these children to reduce child mortality in Taiwan. To improve patient safety during transfer, our team has developed a 5G transport stretcher and a cloud-based transportation integration platform. This initiative leverages Taiwan’s 5G communication network characterized by high speed, low latency, and multi-connectivity. The system includes a miniature camera, an Internet of Things (IoT) platform, and functionality for integrating signals from medical equipment.
