2022 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards List Announced
Connecting the World Toward Sustainability
In 2015, the United Nations announced Agenda 2030 and adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which clearly define the direction of global efforts for the period 2016-2030. Over the past six years, organizations around the world have integrated SDGs into their internal cultures and adopted innovative strategies to implement sustainable development. Each award-winning case fully demonstrates the sense of mission and the results of the participating organizations' efforts to implement the United Nations' sustainable development goals.
Six cities were selected for this year's Livable and Sustainable Cities Award, based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG11, Sustainable Cities and Villages. The award winners fully demonstrate the characteristics of inclusiveness, safety, resilience and sustainability, and reflect the achievements and dedication of local governments in implementing sustainability. These sustainability leaders have combined their expertise and responsibilities to integrate environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) issues into corporate operational decisions, risk management, management processes, and corporate culture, and have made outstanding contributions to driving their organizations toward sustainable development.
Ambassador Chien further stated that through the observation of this year's participating cases, it is deeply felt that Taiwanese enterprises, universities, hospitals, and government agencies have integrated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with their organizational business objectives and sustainability strategy blueprints, and based on which they have planned specific solutions and performance indicators for innovative implementation. The selection process was rigorous, objective, and fair. Overall, the excellent performance of companies in sustainability performance and individual aspects has improved significantly compared to previous years, which is highly appreciated by the experts and scholars.
Attend the Asia Pacific Sustainability Expo and Summit to share a moment of glory
In response to the United Nations' goal of sustainable development and in conjunction with the government's zero-transformation policy to encourage all sectors to actively participate in sustainability issues, this year's award ceremony will be held from August 12 to 14 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1, Area A, in conjunction with the Asia Pacific Sustainable Action Expo. The exhibition features 291 booths in six thematic areas, including the Sustainability Policy Area (nine central government agencies including the Department of Construction of the Ministry of the Interior), the Sustainable Cities Area (including six metropolitan cities and four counties), the Sustainable Enterprises Area (about 30 listed companies), the Sustainable Universities Area (22 public and private universities), the Sustainable Living Area (major domestic financial and department store retail industries), and the Sustainable NGOs Area, to outline the fruitful achievements of all sectors in Taiwan's participation in sustainability and climate action. The exhibition is now open for online registration (https://lihi1.cc/sJ6uE), and people from all backgrounds are welcome to register to visit the exhibition.
