Promoting Sustainable Action Models Toward Sustainable Development Goals
Promoting Sustainable Action Models Toward Sustainable Development Goals
The second Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA) attracted 136 competing organizations, with a total of 247 award entries. 200 sustainable action projects were selected (1 special award, 65 gold awards, 68 silver awards and 66 bronze awards). Each award won by an organization fully demonstrated the drive and desire to achieve the United Nations' goal of sustainable development, and the diversity of the implementation of each program, creating social benefits and impact, fully demonstrating the abundant vitality of Taiwanese enterprises to promote sustainable development, which is an exemplary example for all sectors.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as expressed by Taiwan's TSAA Chair Eugene Chien, are a clear vision of global efforts for the period 2016-2030. Over the past six years, Taiwan has integrated the SDGs into its organizational culture and adopted innovative strategies to implement sustainable development, with many inspiring breakthroughs and success stories. Most of the award-winning cases are based on the core competencies of their industries, and have taken concrete actions to improve major issues such as health and well-being, age-friendliness, net-zero transformation, green innovation, gender equality, social inclusion, environmental protection, climate action, infrastructure and green innovation, and have contributed to the promotion of social inclusion, environmental sustainability and economic development, which are well recognized and acknowledged by all sectors.
Ambassador Chien further stated that through the observation of this year's participating cases, it is deeply felt that Taiwanese enterprises, universities, hospitals, and government agencies have integrated SDGs with their organizational business objectives and sustainability strategy blueprints, and based on which they have planned specific solutions and performance indicators for innovative implementation. The selection process was rigorous, objective, and fair. Overall, the excellent performance of companies in sustainability performance and individual aspects has improved significantly compared to previous years, which is highly appreciated by the experts and scholars.
