Sustainable Taoyuan Coastal Development by "Ecology", "Living", and "Economy".
In 2015, NCU and the Taoyuan City Government jointly planned the "Taoyuan City Coastal Ecological Protection White Paper". In 2018, NCU received the USR grant from the Ministry of Education and has since continued to work with the local residents of Taoyuan coastal areas, the local community partners, and the relevant units of Taoyuan City Government to jointly promote the green corridor of Taoyuan Coast, so that the ecological environment of Taoyuan Coast and the community residents can develop sustainably. NCU uses scientific evidence (coastal environmental monitoring data) as the benchmark for dialogue between environmental protection and development and promotes the cooperation between industry, government, academia, and the people, including the natural environment, community development, and local cultural preservation. We aim to protect local culture and promote coastal communities in a way that promotes social enterprises. We work together with local residents to establish sustainable development for coastal communities through strategies such as coastal environmental monitoring, conservation activities, environmental education and social enterprises, so that the charm of Taoyuan Coast can be reproduced.
