Taiwan Health Sustainability Awards
Taiwan Health Sustainability Awards
● Origin of the Awards
The Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) has, for the past 18 years, continuously organised the TCSA Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards to encourage Taiwan’s business community to fulfil corporate social responsibility and advance toward sustainable corporate development. In parallel, TAISE has conducted corporate sustainability seminars and executive training programmes, providing domestic enterprises with platforms for information exchange and benchmarking related to sustainability reporting and sustainability performance. These initiatives have received strong engagement and positive recognition from across Taiwanese society.
To date, a total of 882 organisations have participated in the Awards. The combined revenue of participating entities across all editions accounts for 155% of Taiwan’s gross domestic product (GDP) in 2023. This clearly demonstrates that, through the collective efforts of government, civil society, industry, and academia—and alongside the growing momentum of green finance and ESG-oriented investment—sustainability has evolved into both a prevailing societal movement and a central discipline of contemporary management.
Amid growing global awareness of sustainability, the United Nations introduced the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. The 17 core goals serve as a shared global blueprint guiding the world toward sustainable transformation by 2030, while calling upon all nations to take action through global partnerships to realise inclusive and sustainable development.
Within this global wave of sustainable development, corporate sustainability has become a central priority for organisational leadership, and healthcare institutions are no exception. Corporate sustainability encompasses three core ESG dimensions: economic, environmental, and social. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Risks Report, failure of climate action and extreme weather events have ranked among the top three global risks in recent years. As the climate emergency continues to intensify, the transition toward net-zero emissions has emerged as the most critical issue in global sustainable development. In response, healthcare institutions in Taiwan should build upon the foundations of low-carbon hospitals and continue advancing toward net-zero emissions and organisation-wide ESG-driven sustainability, in alignment with international trends and expectations.
Building upon its extensive experience in administering the TCSA Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards, TAISE is organising the Second Taiwan Healthcare Sustainability Awards in 2025. The Awards comprise four major categories: the Sustainability Comprehensive Performance Award and the Sustainability Single-Item Performance Award, recognising overall and thematic sustainability performance; the Sustainability Report Award, honouring excellence in transparency and information disclosure; and the Sustainability Outstanding Individual Award, recognising individuals whose exemplary contributions have significantly advanced hospitals’ progress toward sustainable development.
The Awards Ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Global Corporate Sustainability Forum, recognising model hospitals that demonstrate leadership in sustainability. Healthcare institutions across Taiwan are cordially invited to compete for the nation’s highest honour in sustainable development and to showcase Taiwan’s healthcare sustainability achievements on the international stage.
