2025 TCSA Volunteer Recognition: 97 Platinum/Silver/Gold Evaluators Honored
2025 TCSA Sustainability Volunteer Recognition Event
Honoring 97 Platinum/Silver/Gold Evaluators on International Volunteer Day
On December 4, 2024, the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) hosted the "2025 TCSA Sustainability Volunteer Recognition Event". Held on the eve of International Volunteer Day, the event gathered over a hundred honorary volunteers to celebrate the expansion and deepening of corporate sustainability in Taiwan.
TCSASince its inception in 2008, the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) has grown from 16 participating companies to 743 organizations in 2024, including corporations, hospitals, universities, and NGOs. The cumulative number of participating entities has reached 1,075, with their total 2024 revenue exceeding NT$38.4 trillion. This massive evaluation system is powered by a dedicated panel of 1,395 volunteer judges and 449 expert judges.
- 6 Platinum Level (100% adoption rate over 5 consecutive years)
- 35 Gold Level (4 consecutive years)
- 50 Silver Level (3 consecutive years)
- 184 Bronze Level (1 year)
Secretary-General Yong-shun Shen revealed that 80-year-old TAISE Chairman Eugene Chien is currently penning his memoirs, in which he pays tribute to the volunteers whose dedication lays the groundwork for Taiwan's sustainable future. Shen also highlighted the "Top Ten Corporate Sustainability Trends," noting a significant overlap between domestic and international priorities. This alignment suggests Taiwan is moving in lockstep with global standards. Regarding compliance, he emphasized that while SMEs fall outside the immediate scope of regulations like the CSRD and CSDDD, they must remain proactive due to supply chain pressures. Shen concluded that successful sustainability requires companies to build both their internal culture and external reputation.
Beyond the recognition event, this year featured two keynote sessions. Sustaihub CEO Cheng-Pei Lee discussed using AI for sustainability reporting while avoiding greenwashing. He reminded companies that while AI boosts efficiency, content authenticity is paramount, relying too heavily on generative tech risks losing a company's true voice. In the second session, Director Jing-yi Yu from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital's Social Services Department covered "DEI Sustainability Practices." She emphasized that diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just HR issues but foundational pillars that support public welfare. Using examples from healthcare, she illustrated DEI's critical role in aiding vulnerable populations. The event concluded with raffles and a sustainability knowledge contest, fostering lively volunteer interaction and learning.
Taking a hands-on approach, Hungkuang University President Hong-yi Su personally joined the ranks of the volunteer judges. He thanked TAISE for creating a platform that nurtures sustainability talent across sectors and encouraged others to join the ranks. Mr. Wei Chen, who began as a university volunteer and grew alongside the platform over the past five years, evolving from a trainee to a mentor and rising to Sustainability Director at his company, reflected on his journey: "Serving as a judge helped me SEE, sustainability isn't just a path, but a guiding light showing me the way forward."
As the TCSA grows in scale each year, the professional dedication of our volunteer judges has become a critical force, not only elevating the quality of corporate sustainability reports but actively driving sustainable governance throughout Taiwan. Through structured training and peer collaboration, the TCSA is cultivating waves of influential talent, making sustainability a shared mission for both corporate culture and civil society. On the eve of International Volunteer Day, TAISE extends its deepest gratitude to all volunteer judges. We look forward to welcoming more people to the cause as we work together to build a more resilient, inclusive, and visionary future for Taiwan.
