Global Sustainability's Progress:
The 2023 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards is open for registration
Taipei, Taiwan — The 2023 Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards, an excellent platform to showcase sustainable actions, is organized by the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) Executive Committee of the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy. The Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards aims to recognize companies, universities, hospitals, governments, and non-profit organizations that have made outstanding achievements and contributions to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The award ceremony will be held on July 21 in conjunction with the 2nd Asia Pacific Sustainability Expo and Summit to highlight and recognize the sustainability achievements of outstanding organizations. The application for this year’s Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards is now open.
According to the United Nations World Economic Situation and Prospects 2023 report, the world economy has been hit hard by a series of events, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the food and energy crises caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war, inflation, and climate emergencies. The world economy is expected to grow by 1.9% in 2023, down from an estimated 3.0% in 2022, making it one of the lowest years of growth in recent decades. The UN Secretary-General also said that in the face of the current situation, governments should propose more transformative stimulus programs with sustainable development goals and strong fiscal measures to revitalize the global economy and continue to support the sustainable development agenda.
With just over six years left until “Agenda 2030,” governments around the world should respond to the UN's recommendations and, in the face of multiple crises, accelerate their pace and devote more resources to implementing SDGs-related policies than ever before. Over the past seven years, Taiwan has transformed the SDGs from advocacy to practical sustainability action through the joint efforts of its public and private sectors. We hope that the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards and the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Expo and Summit will showcase Taiwan's rich and diverse sustainability initiatives to the international community.
The Awards will be presented in three categories: (1) the Sustainability Action Award, which encourages the implementation of the SDGs; (2) the Livable and Sustainable City Award, which encourages local governments to implement sustainable governance programs and achieve sustainable cities; and (3) the Outstanding Chief Sustainability Officer Award, which recognizes individuals who have made exemplary contributions to promoting corporate sustainability.
This year's award ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Asia Pacific Sustainability Expo and Summit, which is expected to be attended by more than 160 exhibitors (435 booths) from both the public and private sectors, and more than 20,000 visitors, making the event highly visible to the international community. Through this international event, we hope to provide visitors with the opportunity to learn about the performance and innovation of SDGs, CSRs and USRs in China and abroad, to stimulate cross-industry alliances and explore domestic and international markets, and to drive the innovation energy of enterprises and enhance international competitiveness. Enterprises, universities, hospitals, government and non-profit organizations are cordially invited to apply for the awards.
