Liver disease is one of the serious local diseases in Taiwan, prevalence rate of Hepatitis B&C viral infection in adults are 15-20% and 4%, respectively. In order to reinforce the importance and effectiveness of abdominal ultrasound in longitudinal follow up of chronic hepatitis B&C patients, The Liver Disease Prevention and Treatment Research Foundation collaborate with 12 hospitals, 50 doctors and 300 paramedical personnel perform abdominal ultrasound for free. Totally 1,912 people received abdominal ultrasound examination in 3 hours.
Our mission has been to advocate: active screening, regular follow up and early treatment of liver diseases. We aim to raise awareness on liver disease prevention and treatment to curb chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. Through research and development of innovative medicine, we hope to shorten the diagnosis and treatment, allowing individuals to live healthily and happily. During follow up of chronic hepatitis B&C patients, abdominal ultrasound examination is very important in clarification of liver status. Not only for liver, ultrasound can also be used to detect disorders in gallbladder, pancreases, spleen, kidneys and other organs.
