● Background to the Award

In the face of the global momentum toward sustainable development and the growing challenges of climate change, the role of government in sustainability governance has become increasingly critical. To encourage leaders of government institutions at both central and local levels to actively advance sustainable governance and implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy has established the “Taiwan Outstanding Sustainable Governance Leadership Award.”

 

This award recognizes government leaders who have demonstrated outstanding performance in policy innovation, governance effectiveness, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion. By setting exemplary benchmarks, the award seeks to deepen and expand a culture of sustainable governance across public institutions.

● Purpose of the Award

1. To recognize government leaders who have demonstrated outstanding performance in advancing sustainable governance.

2. To strengthen government agencies’ awareness and implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

3. To commend exemplary sustainable action initiatives across sectors.

4. To enhance transparency and public trust in government, while fostering broad public participation.

● Eligibility

This award is open exclusively to government institutions in Taiwan and their respective leaders at both central and local levels.
