    Asia-Pacific SDGs Sustainable Exhibition Awards

     SDGs Sustainable Exhibition Awards

Green Exhibitions, Building a Sustainable Future

    ● Origin of the Awards

The world today is facing increasingly severe environmental challenges, with resource constraints and climate change emerging as critical issues of global concern. Against this backdrop, sustainable development has become a core principle across industries worldwide. As a key platform facilitating economic activity, knowledge exchange, and cultural interaction, the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) sector bears a growing responsibility to integrate sustainability into its planning and operations. Through the adoption of environmentally responsible materials, energy-efficiency measures, and carbon reduction practices, MICE activities are well positioned to translate sustainability principles into tangible action and to contribute meaningfully to environmental protection and social progress.

With the continued growth of the green economy and the global adoption of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investment frameworks, the strategic value and societal impact of the MICE sector have gained increasing recognition. The Asia-Pacific region, characterised by its cultural diversity and dynamic economic development, is uniquely positioned to play a leading role in advancing sustainable MICE practices. Within this context, embedding sustainability into MICE operations represents not only an environmental and social responsibility, but also a strategic pathway for enhancing industry competitiveness and supporting long-term transformation.

To encourage the systematic integration of SDGs-aligned sustainability principles into event planning, management, and delivery across the Asia-Pacific MICE sector, the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) has established the Asia-Pacific SDGs Sustainable MICE Awards. The Awards aim to recognise enterprises and institutions that demonstrate excellence in environmental stewardship, energy conservation, carbon reduction, and the fulfilment of social responsibility within MICE activities. Through the recognition of exemplary practices, the Awards seek to guide the industry toward the effective implementation of sustainability objectives and measurable impact.

Through the promotion of this Awards programme, TAISE aspires to inspire MICE practitioners across the Asia-Pacific region to demonstrate their commitment to balanced environmental, social, and economic development through innovation and concrete action. At the same time, the Awards are intended to facilitate knowledge sharing, peer learning, and the exchange of best practices within the sector, collectively advancing toward a more resilient and sustainable future.

    ● Purpose of the Awards

    1. To encourage enterprises to adopt environmentally responsible practices in exhibitions and events in accordance with the 3Rs principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), thereby mitigating the environmental impacts of exhibition activities.

    2. To promote the implementation of carbon management and green action initiatives by enterprises within exhibitions and events, contributing to the achievement of low-carbon objectives.

    3. To guide enterprises in showcasing innovative products and services through exhibitions and events, thereby strengthening sustainable business strategies and the communication of sustainability value.

    4. To foster collaboration between enterprises, local communities, and diverse stakeholder groups within exhibitions and events, enhancing social inclusivity and societal impact.

    5. To inspire enterprises to design innovative and interactive exhibition formats that promote sustainability principles and deepen audience engagement.
