Longchen Paper & Packaging Co., Ltd. 榮成紙業股份有限公司

The journey of water cycle of Longchen
Longchen Paper & Packaging CO., LTD. (LPP) has been developing high-efficiency resource utilization technology to recycle waste papers into commercial boxes. It has obtained the BS8001 Level 4 – the most sophisticated and optimized circular economy standard - certification in 2020 by an international verification firm for its practices in integrating the circular economy in the papermaking process. The wastewater treatment strategy employed by LPP is aimed to integrate the core papermaking technology combined with the concept of circular economy to continuously improve the efficiency of water consumption by recycling wastewater. This not only saves water, reduces wastes, and cuts carbon emissions but also reduces the impact on the environment brought by wastewater.
LPP now adopts four recycling technologies covering white water, rainwater, anaerobic biogas, and (patented) biological sludge. The environmental benefits generated by them in 2022 are: saving 63,635,346MT of water, cutting GHG emission equivalent to 13,918metric tons of CO2, using 5,692MT less in raw materials, cutting sludge by 7,589MT, and saving 1.8 million kWh of electricity. This enables the plant of LPP to get 93.18 of total water intake from recycled water and recycle white water in the pulp dilution and papering process up to 26 times which, in turn, amount to an economic benefit of  NT$873,045 thousand . In addition, the reclaimed water recycling project to be launched in 2026 is expected to generate 1.8 million metric tons of of recycled water each year for individual production lines with different water quality requirements to reduce water intake and wastewater discharge.
