"Upcycle Agricultural Waste to Gold": Leverage biotechnology to create diversified health products.
Taiwan produces 4 to 5 million tons of agricultural waste annually, TCI launched the "Turning Agricultural Waste to Gold" project since 2015 to reduce methane production, and conduct "Bio-Resource Data Mining platform" to discover "plant-based waste" of sustainable economic value through scientific verification and human clinical trials. The Formosa Ruby™(Taiwan red quinoa) has been consumed as quinoa rice, and the husk as waste has been upcycled by TCI as active ingredients applied in supplements. Furthermore, TCI created a closed loop by using the quinoa residue ferment as fertilizer; fibers applied into package material. The Project combining multiple agriculture wastes upcycle has utilized approximately 1,866 tons of wastes, transformed into active ingredients into 186 products. They have been sold in 63 countries and has reached USD $361.33 million revenue generated from 2015 to 2022. The final product has brought USD $2.35 billion to our customers.
