    Taichung Veteran General Hospital 臺中榮民總醫院

Heart-warming healthcare in Asia and Oceania: Enhancing medical cooperation with partner countries at the national-level
"Compassion, Quality, Innovation, and Accountability" are the core values of Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH). TCVGH shoulders the social responsibility of being a "health guardian" as a national medical center. TCVGH also pursue excellence in medical care, teaching, and research to improve the health of veterans, the general public, and the common humanity. In order to integrate resources, TCVGH promote international medical service effectively across departments. We set up an International Medical Service Center (IMSC) in 2008, serving 13,000 international patients every year. IMSC also supports government policies, implements various medical plans, and fulfills the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
Since 2008, TCVGH has been dispatching resident doctors and medical mission teams to support the Republic of Nauru, a Pacific Ocean diplomatically of Taiwan. The medical mission teams assist local medical personnel in professional training, establishing standardized medical procedures, providing people health educations and conducting health surveys. Through these versatile strategies, we have successfully improved the quality of medical care of the Republic of Nauru, increased the medical knowledge of the Nauruan public, and meanwhile strengthened their awareness of healthy lifestyles, thus effectively decreasing risk factors in chronic diseases, reducing the health inequality within Nauru and among developed and evolving countries, and fulfilling SDG 10: Inequality was reduced within and among countries.
In compliance with our government's "New Southbound Policy", since 2018, TCVGH has participated in the "One Country, One Center - Vietnam" project under our Ministry of Health and Welfare. The project focuses on strengthening medical and health cooperation with Southeast Asian countries, in fields such as medical and health personnel training, epidemic prevention collaborations and combines the export of medical and health industries greatly enhancing the Southeast Asia market development for Taiwan Health industry and thus deriving a complete industry chain.
