Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Awards-Most Livable City Excellence Award:Excellent City
Taichung City Government

Outstanding Governance Drives Sustainability, Leading Taichung to a Resilient and Livable City
Taichung City actively promotes sustainable governance, establishing the nation's first sustainability unit directly under the Mayor to fully drive 17 SDGs and regularly issue Voluntary Local Reviews.
Environmentally, it pioneered the "Wind Inducing, Green Increasing, and Blue Retaining" strategy against the heat island effect. Promoting diverse renewable energy, its 2025 wind and hydro power topped the six municipalities. Advancing the "Blue Sky and White Clouds Action Plan" and green transit, it cut PM2.5 to 13.5 μg/m³; as central-southern Taiwan's top air-quality city, earning the Carbon Disclosure Project "A List" rating for two straight years.
Socially, it built all-age inclusive Social Housing, sports centers, Sunshine Toilets, and inclusion parks. Creating an age-friendly environment with 100% long-term care coverage, it ranked first in CommonWealth's "Slow-Aging City Survey." Landmarks like the International Convention and Exhibition Center and Taichung Green Museumbrary boost economic capacity and global visibility.
Steady population growth reflects approval of sustainable governance. Taichung will advance toward the "Sustainable Happiness, Prosperous Taichung" vision.
