Powering Corporate Net-Zero: A Green Energy Transition Progress
Aligning with the IEA’s “Net Zero by 2050” roadmap, Bank of Taiwan (BOT) has pledged to cease new financing for coal-mining and coal-fired power projects. In 2025, BOT further strengthened its sustainability policies by expanding credit restrictions on coal and unconventional oil and gas, while establishing phased decarbonization targets. Our robust ESG framework integrates comprehensive risk assessment with corporate engagement, featuring sector exclusions, enhanced due diligence, Equator Principles compliance, and ESG KYC protocols. To accelerate transition, BOT launched the "Net-Zero Transition Diagnostic" service to help clients navigate climate risks. This is integrated with a diversified green portfolio—including renewable energy, low-carbon smart management, and sustainability-linked loans—providing a seamless, one-stop transition solution. Beyond supporting Taiwan’s energy policies, BOT is extending its expertise to developing nations. Grounded in Taiwan with a global outlook, we remain committed to our core strategy—“We drive for the net-zero future”—actively injecting transformation momentum into the global energy sector.
