Digital Early Intervention in Rural Areas: Social Practice
Centered on local care, this project addresses the shortage of early-intervention resources, professional manpower, and urban-rural service gaps in rural communities. It integrates cross- disciplinary expertise from National Central University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Taitung University, and connects medical and social-welfare partners including Mackay Memorial Hospital, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Landseed International Hospital, the Syin-Lu Social Welfare Foundation, and community organizations. Through IoT, VR, and AI, the project builds a digital remote precision early-intervention model, including an information integration platform, a VR game-based rehabilitation room, and an AI assessment and recommendation mechanism. Children in rural areas can receive cognitive, motor, and functional training at home, in schools, or in community sites, while families and frontline personnel receive individualized goals and intervention suggestions. Aligned with SDG 3, SDG 4, and SDG 10, the project aims to serve more than 1,000 children and families each year and establish a replicable digital rural-care model.
