Net-Zero Action: Building a Sustainable Taipei
Taipei City leads Taiwan’s net-zero transition with its Net-Zero Emissions Management Ordinance, setting clear targets and eight core strategies including carbon reduction, energy efficiency, green mobility, and climate adaptation. The city implements urban cooling through green coverage, energy-saving buildings, and revised greening regulations—projected to add 15,000 trees and 50,000 m² of vertical greenery annually.
Affordable housing integrates green design and accessibility, while public transport is strengthened via MRT expansion and the TPASS system. Climate resilience is enhanced through upgraded drainage, slope protection, and recycled water use. Public participation is key: initiatives span health programs, low-carbon diets, sustainable tourism, and eco-friendly events like the Taipei Marathon. Internationally recognized for safety and sustainability, Taipei is advancing toward a livable, inclusive, and climate-resilient future aligned with the 2050 net-zero goal.
