From Butterfly Habitats to Green Living: Sustainability at Hongye Park
Located in Guanziling, Tainan, Taiwan, Hongye Park is a model site that integrates ecological conservation with environmental education. Since 2011, it has promoted butterfly-friendly habitats through monitoring, native planting, and community engagement.
From 2022 to 2024, the Siraya National Scenic Area Headquarters partnered with the Ministry of Education and local groups to expand efforts centered on the Purple Crow Butterfly, developing a comprehensive initiative combining conservation, participation, and low-carbon tourism.
These actions increased butterfly species from 116 to 119 and deepened public engagement through citizen science and green living. Rooted in local practice and inclusive learning, Hongye Park advances multiple SDGs and stands as a leading example of environmental sustainability in Taiwan.
