Decarbonize Today Sustainable Tomorrow : Reducing Carbon Emissions for a Sustainable Future
Far Eastern SOGO is Taiwan’s first department store to earn both carbon and decarbonization labels, and to incorporate service-based carbon labeling into green procurement. Though not publicly listed, it actively aligns with TCFD, TNFD, and initiatives like EP100 and R20. It also adopts ISO 14064-1 and ISO 14067 standards, enhancing climate governance and submitting an SBT commitment.
In 2024, it led the industry by winning its sixth consecutive national environmental award (silver or above) and signing the SBT pledge. Its energy productivity (EP) reached 502.41, achieving 80% of EP100 goals. Since 2018, SOGO has invested NT$270 million in energy-saving upgrades, reducing electricity use by 112 million kWh—saving NT$208 million, equivalent to 120,000 Daan District residents' four-month usage.
With strategies of “Energy Saving & Emission Reduction,” “Sustainable Consumption,” and “Circular Business Model,” SOGO promotes a green lifestyle and aims for carbon neutrality by 2040, supporting Taiwan’s 2050 net-zero goal.
