Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships and Local Sustainability Practice in Huwei Jian Guo Village
•Historical Background:
◆In 2006, following the implementation of the Statute Governing the Reconstruction of Old Military Dependents’ Villages, all residents were relocated, and the village was left abandoned for nearly a decade.
•Current Development:
◆Now, after 12 years of ongoing work, the team has cultivated deep community roots, forging long-term partnerships with local schools, associations, public and private sector ◆rganizations, and businesses in the greater Huwei area.
◆Building upon the environment, ecology, and cultural heritage of the military dependents’ village, the operating team has introduced a series of innovative, art-infused initiatives. Key initiatives include:
◆Community-driven Zero-Waste Markets
◆Mentorship and Support for Startups
◆Revitalization and Expansion of the Local Flea Market
◆Youth Camps and Working Holiday Programs
•Key Highlights:
◆A rare example of a scattered rural military dependents’ village in Taiwan.
◆A cultural heritage site that reflects the historical evolution of Huwei.
