Nestlé First 1000 Days Social Worker Training Program
As a global leader in maternal and infant nutrition, Nestlé recognizes that the first 1,000 days of life are critical to a child’s long-term health and development. In line with this understanding, Nestlé actively advocates for the importance of “The First 1,000 Days.”
In Taiwan, Nestlé upholds its core philosophy of “Creating Shared Value” by responding to the unique needs of local communities. We found that the nutritional challenges faced by underage mothers, who often experience economic hardship. These young mothers have higher rates of stillbirth and low birth weight compared to the national average.
From 2016 to 2024,this program has expanded its partnerships beyond the Garden of Hope Foundation to include public sector social work systems in New Taipei City, Kaohsiung City, and Miaoli County. Over this period, more than 60 training sessions have been conducted, distributing over 400 copies of the “Social Worker Nutrition Encyclopedia” and directly training 2,600 social workers and supervisors. The program has donated 18,000 cans of infant formula and nearly 1,000 boxes of maternal supplement capsules. The initiative has helped a total of 24,500 underage pregnant.
