Fly to Second Home with Love~The First Comprehensive Child Abuse Care Model
In recent years, there are more and more child abuse cases reported but there are no adequate institutes for post-abuse care. Therefore, the hospital established the brand new residential and long-term care institution in Kaohsiung Municipal Min-Shen Hospital called the "Flying Elephant Garden" in November 2020 under the guidance and assistance of the Department of Health and Social Affairs Bureau, Kaohsiung City Government."Flying Elephant Garden" was established for severely disabled children 0~18 years old who have medical and long-term care needs and as an emergency residence providing respite care services. By combining medical care, rehabilitation, education, welfare and living care with social resources, the institute can provide children with universal medical care services. Later, in 2020, the hospital set up a long-term care institute with residence services for disabled children, offering protection and a settlement committee in Kaohsiung Municipal Min-Sheng Hospital to establish assessment criteria and review eligible cases for children who need the institute's help.
