Shaping a Sustainable Quality Health Care by Evidence-Based Knowledge Translation
In 2012, Wanfang Medical Center established the first Evidence-Based Knowledge Translation Center (EBKTC) in Asia for transforming the updated evidence into clinical care.
We organize multidisciplinary Journal Clubs (JCs), develop methodologies for formulating various clinical guidelines. The EBKTC plays a key role in promoting Shared Decision Making and the Choosing Wisely movement in Taiwan. We train the trainees for extending the impact to the first-line care and collaborate with government agencies to bring the evidence-based health policy into practice.
In the past years, the JCs have held 303 sessions with 8,788 participants. We have introduced 43 hospital-wide evidence-based initiatives, leading to remarkable patient care improvement. Together with Cochrane Taiwan, we extend this model to 10 countries contributing to SDGs 3, SDG 4 and SDG 17 by promoting sustainable quality care.
