			Taipei City Hospital

No Food, No Life.
Taipei City Hospital established the Chewing and Swallowing Disorders Interdisciplinary Team in 2018 to improve the quality of care for patients with swallowing disorders. Nowaday between 450,000 and 500,000 people in Taiwan rely on tube feeding. Although nasogastric tubes can maintain nutritional supply, prolonged dependence may lead to complications and psychological stress. The team developed a standard operating procedure for the evaluation and treatment of chewing and swallowing disorders cases: 1Continuous integration of interdisciplinary professional teams to enhance the assessment and treatment process of chewing and dysphagia cases 2Expanded screening and implementation of case assessment and treatment to improve patients' swallowing function, nutritional intake and quality of life 3 Planning and organizing professional training and promotional seminars related to masticatory and swallowing disorders; 4Implementing shared decision-making between doctors and patients to reduce the incidence of ineffective medical treatment. Enhancing patients' health and quality of life aligns with the United Nations SDG 3(Good Health And Well-being), SDG 10,SDG 12 and SDG 17
