Tech × Assistive Care: New Governance for an Aging Society in Yunlin
The Yunlin County Assistive Technology Resources Center, under the Department of Social Affairs, has long provided comprehensive services such as assistive device assessments, rentals, and repairs for people with disabilities and the elderly. With the rapidly aging population, service demand has increased sharply, resulting in workforce overload and significant challenges to maintaining service quality and administrative efficiency.
To address these evolving needs, the Yunlin County Government became the first in Taiwan to implement Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in its assistive technology services. By automating high-volume administrative tasks, RPA frees up professional staff to focus on service quality. The initiative is further supported by district-based case management, local service point deployment, and a LINE chatbot interface—together forming a sustainable digital governance model that responds to the demands of an aging society.
