From Taiwan to Tanzania, Speaking of Love with Candor — FJCU Tanzania Medical Volunteer Group
Since 2011, the FJCU Tanzania Medical Volunteer Group has promoted SDG 3 through sustained healthcare and water resource efforts in rural Tanzania. In 2024, the team expanded its impact across Engaruka and Mangola, conducting health screenings for over 400 students, reaching 2,000+ individuals through mental and physical health education, and delivering targeted training to over 300 community members. Water infrastructure was improved with over 10 km of piping repaired, benefiting 200+ residents, alongside handwashing stations and hygiene promotion. Four local healthcare partners were invited to Taiwan for intensive ultrasound training under the “African Elite Program,” strengthening two-way exchange. The team also maintained SMS health updates for 41 participants, donated medical equipment, and conducted five ultrasound workshops. Recognized with two national awards by the Youth Development Administration, the initiative continues to integrate service, education, and technology—establishing a replicable model for global sustainable healthcare partnerships.
