Digitalized Life, Accessible: Yunlin Coastal Elderly's Digital Education Project
In response to Taiwan’s White Paper on an Aging Society, China Medical University Beigang Hospital launched the Yunhai Digital Inclusion Program in 2021 to reduce the digital divide and promote mental well-being among rural older adults. This tech-human hybrid model fosters sustainable elderly care.
Three Core Innovations to Strengthen Elderly Health and Digital Literacy
1. LINE Training and Social Interaction Support
Through personalized and group-based teaching, older adults learn to use LINE for voice calls, messages, stickers, and video chats. This promotes emotional connection with family and community, mitigating loneliness and social isolation.
2. Remote Care and Mental Health Support
Case managers proactively reach out via LINE or phone to offer emotional check-ins, mental health counseling, and wellness guidance. This helps identify psychological risks early and builds a supportive social network.
3. Remote Health Monitoring and Medication Safety
Smart devices track daily blood pressure and glucose, while pharmacists provide medication reviews and education via cloud-based records, ensuring safe and precise chronic disease management.
