ShiBi Bamboo Recreational Forest Plan
◆Shibi Bamboo Forest is Taiwan’s first bamboo-structured forest therapy eco-tourism park, covering 100 hectares in Yunlin County. Designed with a vision to nurture both people and nature, the project integrates low-impact architecture, forest ecology, and mental wellness. It aligns with multiple UN SDGs, including health, climate action, and sustainable communities.
◆Featuring bamboo pavilions, meditation spaces, and sensory trails, the park offers a unique healing experience while preserving biodiversity. Local communities, artisans, and scholars were engaged in the planning process, ensuring cultural resonance and ecological balance.
◆In 2024, the park welcomed over 80,000 visitors, created rural job opportunities, and revived traditional bamboo craftsmanship. Its modular design and open-source planning toolkit allow for replication in other regions. Shibi Bamboo Forest demonstrates how design, community, and sustainability can converge to create impactful, scalable, and healing environments.
