Taiwan's fisheries generate about 190,000 tons of aquatic waste annually, including fish scales and shells. The removal of fish scales is scattered and difficult to recycle, causing foul odors and bacterial growth. Our project uses a low-cost method to process waste fish scales into natural, biodegradable materials suitable for 3D printing. These printed objects naturally solidify. We apply design applications and organize international workshops and exhibitions with academic partners from Japan and Italy. We also partnered with Keio-Kamakura Lab from Japan to raise awareness of aquatic waste's environmental impact and recycling potential, aligning with SDG 14. The fishscale project emphasizes aquatic waste recycling and collaborative practices among coastal regions and stakeholders. This reduces environmental impact, promotes social inclusion, and meets SDG 11 goals. By conducting onsite surveys in aquatic food processing industries and aquaculture, we connect with local stakeholders. We establish cooperative relationships for fishscale recycling, enabling collection and drying during production. This transforms waste into useful materials, achieving SDG 12 targets.
