China Medical University Hospital

As of 2020, we have been supporting Taoshan Community Health Care in the Heping District of Taichung City. This community, located at elevations of 500 to 1000 meters, is home to 1337 Tayal indigenous people. About 18% of the population is elderly. The per capita income is NT$84,437, lower than Taiwan's average. Due to the remote location and aging population, food access is crucial. In March 2021, we installed a 100-square-meter aquaponics system to address this problem. This system aids economically disadvantaged families by providing locally produced vegetables and fish, reducing food costs. From 2021 to 2023, it produced approximately 68 kg of vegetables and 96 kg of fish, benefiting 8 disadvantaged families. China Medical University Hospital has long committed to delivering medical care in remote areas. Through on-site visits and corporate volunteer team surveys, we aim to support sustainable development strategies and aid rural residents in achieving their goals.
