Taichung Veteran General Hospital

Taiwan is a country lacking natural resources, so "energy sustainability" is a major issue. Energy reuse is to be strengthened to achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction. In this study, we focus on "energy sustainability" to achieve two major goals through improving our hospital's elevators. The two goals included: (a) to control elevators intelligently, to shorten passengers’ waiting time tand to reduce the number of door openings. In addition to improving the energy consumption of existing electromechanical equipment, elevator transportation can further improve efficiency. The improvement in energy loss can reduce energy consumption by as much as 12.91%; and (b) to equip an elevator with a power regeneration device. The power regeneration device can convert the kinetic energy when the elevator decelerates into electrical energy, which can then be used to power the elevator itself. These processes can significantly reduce energy consumption by 20.04%. Intelligent elevators can significantly improve operating efficiency, and the power recovery device can reuse energy. The result is to help the hospital to achieve energy sustainability. It not only complies with the current
