The Positive Interpersonal & Life Orientation Training (PILOT) is an intervention program developed by the National Taiwan University Children and Family Research Center. PILOT aims to foster positive development and prevent mental health and substance use issues among youth by focusing on the enhancement of their emotional quotient, social quotient, and adversity quotient. The training comprises on-site workshops for teachers and life skill modules, including decision-making, emotion regulation, conflict resolution, and peer pressure resistance, designed to be integrated into regular elementary and middle school curriculums. Since its establishment in 2012, PILOT has expanded its reach to fourteen cities and counties across Taiwan, benefiting over 25,000 youth. In 2023, as part of an initiative to address disparities in child wellbeing and education, PILOT extended its services to rural areas in Taiwan, providing training courses to hundreds of students who had limited access to such resources. Program evaluations have consistently shown PILOT's effectiveness in enhancing life skills and mental health among students, irrespective of their backgrounds or geographical locations.
