Taipei Medical University-Shuang Ho Hospital
Integrated, intelligent and innovated wound care center
The "Plastic Surgery and Burns Wound Care Center" at Shuang Ho Hospital aims to improve wound care efficiency and outcomes, addressing SDG3 (Good Health and Well-Being). About 10% of diabetic patients in Taiwan have foot ulcers, with a 30.5% amputation rate. The Center's three major action plans include: 1) Building a holistic team by integrating 10 key disciplines for professional and technological innovation. 2) Developing an intelligent early warning system with a wound map for proactive care and improved treatment accuracy. 3) Implementing a personalized care model with standardized blood circulation reconstruction and intelligent care tools, such as personalized foot pressure detection and decompression insoles. In 2023, the Center saw 3,900 wound care visits, reducing hospital length of stay by 8%, pain scores by 48%, and mortality rates by 4%, outperforming global standards. The Center also promotes SDGs 4, 10, and 17 through medical exchanges and training, such as establishing a wound care center in the Marshall Islands. Recognized by the SNQ National Quality Seal, the Center plans to further optimize services with cellular therapies, new drug development, and AI systems.
