PresiCarre Corp. - Ms.Hsiao-chen Su Chief Sustainability Office
Of all the industries undergoing sustainable transformation in the world, the food and retail industry has exhibited sluggish progress, especially in Asia. However, Carrefour Taiwan has demonstrated remarkable performance in Taiwan and Asia over the past few years. The key to its success lies in consolidating sustainability with the Company's core business to not only respond to the UN SDGs and facilitate transformations in the supply chain - thus empowering consumers to engage in responsible consumption with the aid of information transparency - but also help to establish a resilient system through business based on the local environment and social risks in Taiwan. As Carrefour's Chief Sustainability Officer and the Executive Chief of the Carrefour Foundation, Hsiao-chen SU plays a crucial role in this regard.
In 2018, she initiated partnerships with NPOs to launch the cage-free eggs movement, enpowered customers for responsible purchase, supported small egg farmers and also received the CIWF Good Egg Award in 2021.She opened the Group's first sustainability impact store, promoting sustainability education through hundreds of food transition-related guided tours, and assisting small producers to tap into the market. In addition, the NGO EAST certified label was promoted to help dairy farmers to embrace future trade challenges, and she alsoencouraged the food and catering industry to incorporate animal welfare into their procurement policy.International animal welfare forums are also held to facilitate industry-academia exchanges and collaborations.
