National Yunlin University of Science and Technology - Dr.Yang,Neng-Shu President
Since assuming the presidency in 2017, President Yang has implemented numerous reforms at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, a technological university situated in central-southern Taiwan. Due to low birth rates, urban-rural disparities, and competition from international schools, the university has been searching for its unique characteristics and positioning in recent years. President Yang has been following the issue of sustainable development closely. The university has been an early adopter of sustainability reports and has participated in sustainability evaluations. It has also established a specialized unit for integrating University Social Responsibility (USR) and sustainable education. President Yang perceives National Yunlin University of Science and Technology not only as a local but also as a global sustainable think-tank with a responsibility to support social development and change, rather than viewing non-metropolitan conditions as a constraint. Under his leadership and strategy, sustainability issues have swept through the teaching field like a whirlwind. In recent years, the university has developed a series of campus action plans incorporating digital technology, teaching innovation, and social practice connections.
